I'm sitting here at home, watching the new flat screen TV I just bought yesterday to get ready for the new "digital era" that the news stations keep bugging us about. And for the third time today, I have seen the news report about the incident where an 88 year old White Supremacist named James von Brunn walked into the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum with a rifle and killed the security guard, a male by the name of Stephen Tyrone Johns, who happened to be black. The apparent goal for James von Brunn was apparently to go in and kill as many people as possible that were in his mind, inferior, to the White race. Now, is that to say that racism only exists among the caucasian race? Of course NOT! It seems that it is everywhere. I, being a white hispanic, native to Mexico, have seen the racism from blacks to whites, whites to blacks, hispanics to whites, hispanics to blacks, etc etc. And my question is...WHY? Why is it that some fail to see anything past the skin color? Why is it that some will judge someone's character long before they even get to know that person? The worst part is that they don't judge based on the person's actions, body language, the swagger that person carries or voice tonality. No, none of the other superficial qualities appear to matter to some people. The only thing they ever see is skin color. Are we, humanity, so blind that the content of one's mind and heart constantly eludes us time again and again?
